Honor someone with a Recognition Gift

There are several ways you can recognize or honor colleagues, mentors, family and friends and also make a significant difference in the future of IRE. Through the IRE Recognition Gift Program, you can give to the Endowment Fund in memory of someone who inspired you or someone dear to you. We will recognize your gift in our Annual Report and list the name in whose memory you gave.

You may also make a gift in honor of an individual or event. For example, if you wanted to honor the recent success of a colleague or family member, you can make a gift to IRE Endowment Fund that will be listed in the Annual Report and on our Web site. See a list of current recognition funds.

Other examples of events for which you might want to make a gift is to recognize a professional award or a major family event such as the birth of a child.

If you have received an award, a recognition gift can be tied to that. It's OK to toot your own horn and help the IRE Endowment Fund in the process. Send us the information about the award you have received or the special recognition you received for an outstanding piece of journalism. Whatever it is, let us know. If IRE was in any way of assistance to you, let us know. We would be honored to include this in the Annual Report along with recognition of your gift to the IRE Endowment Fund.

When you send a gift for special recognition be sure to include the name and address of the recipient of this recognition. We will write them a letter and let them know that you have made a gift in their honor (or name and address of the family, if the gift is a memorial).

Remember that The John S. and James L Knight Foundation will match any gift to the endowment, contributing $1 for every $2 you give. Thus, a gift of $50 from you will become $75 with the match from the Knight Foundation. In addition, if your company is a matching-gift company, your gift can increase again.
