IRE elects three new members to board, re-elects three
June 12, 2007
COLUMBIA, Mo - The IRE membership elected board members for six of the 13 seats on the board at the membership meeting at its annual conference in Phoenix on June 9.
They are:
• Incumbent James Grimaldi, The Washington Post
• New member Lise Olsen, Houston Chronicle
• Incumbent Cheryl Phillips, The Seattle Times
• Incumbent Lea Thompson, ThomThom Media, LLC
• New member Marilyn Thompson, Los Angeles Times
• New member Alison Young, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The other board members are Wendell Cochran, American University;
Renee Ferguson, WMAQ-Chicago; Manny Garcia, The Miami Herald; Dianna Hunt, Fort Worth Star-Telegram; Mark Katches, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel; Stephen C. Miller, The New York Times; Duff Wilson, The New York Times.
David Heath of The Seattle Times and Mark Rochester of the Associated Press were elected contest judges and will join several board members and a Missouri School of Journalism faculty member on the contest committee.
The board re-elected Grimaldi as president, Phillips as vice president, Hunt as treasurer and Miller as secretary. The board elected Lea Thompson as a member of the executive committee, which is composed of the officers and one other board member.
