The Connecticut Supreme Court has upheld a ruling that allows access to geographic information system data from the town of Greenwich, Conn. Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc., the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and the Society of Environmental Journalists joined to file a friend-of-the-court brief in support of allowing access to such data.

for minority fellowships to computer-assisted reporting boot camps

Food Lion Case A federal appeals court has overturned a jury verdict, ruling that ABC News did not commit fraud in a 1992 hidden-camera investigation into unsanitary meat-handling practices at Food Lion stores. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in a split 2-1 decision, threw out a $315,000 jury award against ABC, which sent two reporters to work undercover at Food Lion stores in the Carolinas. - Sept. 14, 1999
