1999 IRE Board of Directors Election Results

KANSAS CITY - IRE members voted on six of 13 Board of Directors seats at the annual membership meeting in Kansas City, which ended Sunday. Four incumbents were returned to office and two new members were named for the two-year terms. (Choosing not to run for re-election was John Lindsay, chairman.)


Election winners and their vote totals:

  • Judy Miller (incumbent), The Miami Herald (217 votes)
  • Rosemary Armao (incumbent), The Baltimore Sun (209)
  • Mark Lagerkvist, News 12-Long Island (196)
  • Rose Ciotta (incumbent), The Philadelphia Inquirer (187)
  • Drew Sullivan, The Tennessean (176)
  • David Boardman (incumbent), The Seattle Times (172)


    Others receiving votes during the election were:

  • Jim Neff, Kipplinger Reporting Program (160)
  • Duane Pohlman, KING-TV, Seattle (156)


    A second election to name two judges for the annual IRE contest was held. The winners of that election were:
