Investigative Reporter

Job Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, write and produce ground-breaking investigative news stories
  • Generate long and short-term investigative news projects
  • Contribute research and analysis on major breaking news events
  • Provide investigative content across all of NBC 5’s on-air and digital platforms
  • Develop and maintain sources that will generate exclusive reports
  • Conduct and oversee hidden-camera and surveillance operations
  • Willingness to perform basic video shooting and editing
  • Work with station management and NBC legal department conceptualizing and producing content

 

Qualifications/Requirements     

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a television news reporter
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience presenting stories live on-camera 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an investigative reporter
  • Strong story-telling and television writing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field
  • Able to travel and work overtime and weekends with short notice
  • Understanding of computer-assisted reporting and working with database and spreadsheet programs

  • Experience working with hidden cameras 
  • Ability to shoot and edit video for broadcast 
  • Work in a team environment
  • Strong knowledge of social networking for content gathering and story distribution
