News Director

The Statesman Journal is seeking a deeply experienced editor/producer to lead our First Amendment efforts in digital and print. She or he will champion watchdog and enterprise journalism, focusing on the needs of our target audiences. The news director will serve as our senior content strategist, ensuring a steady stream of quality content while aggressively using data and analysis to drive decisions.  Experience with real-time metrics is a must. Candidates must have a demonstrable record of achievement in conceiving and editing watchdog and date-driven projects. She or he must also have exemplary core journalism skills, be able to bring out the best in diverse personalities, and be efficient, effective and self-motivated.Special consideration will be given those holding a master’s degree in journalism from a top program.
