Telecommuting Intelligence Associate

Intellerati is seeking a telecommuting Intelligence Associate with a background in journalism to join one of the leading executive search and human capital intelligence practices in the country. The Intelligence Associate will conduct robust research to identify, profile, screen, and qualify prospective candidates as well as conduct company and industry studies to glean competitive insights from the talent ecosystem. The telecommuting role offers the opportunity for significant advancement and precedented work/life balance. The role is ideally suited for reporters and editors (IRE, NICAR, CAR preferred) who are contemplating a career outside of journalism. Because our work is centered squarely in the business world and because we serve leading technology companies, we also are interested journalists with a demonstrated interest in business and/or technology.

Our Company

Intellerati is the research division of The Good Search, LLC, the nation's first investigative recruitment practice. The firm was founded more than a decade ago by former award-winning investigative reporter, television journalist, and longtime IRE member Krista Bradford. We harness the power of investigative research and intelligence analysis to recruit talent more effectively than traditional search firms. Our clients include  some of the most powerful and successful corporations in advertising, technology, and media.

Our Approach

We work hard and smart to find our clients the talent they need. (In fact, not finding the perfect candidate occasionally keeps us up at night.) So we expect the best from ourselves and each other.  We innovate new strategies and investigative research approaches to recruitment sourcing, pushing the envelope within the timeline and budgetary constraints of each engagement. We conduct a lot of online research and data entry, rapidly entering, updating and cleaning data as we go. In fact, we find the work strangely meditative, like working to fill in the missing pieces in a gigantic data jigsaw puzzle as we map talent at companies, building org charts reporting-relationship-by-reporting-relationship. The work also involves phone research and so you actually have to like picking up the phone and talking to people.  We do it to cultivate our sources, to gather referrals and insights, as well as surface top performers that other firms have missed.  Our work involves deep critical thinking and analysis, superb writing and communication skills, and the ability to move quickly to deliver results on deadline.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Director of Research Operations to develop and execute research strategies.

  • Manage research projects and/or assignments, proactively driving results to ensuring work is delivered on time.

  • Conduct recruiting research that includes identifying, profiling and, as needed, recruiting and screening candidates for search engagements.

  • Conduct rapid, efficient, and accurate data entry. Write candidate biographies. Attach candidate profile photos. Clean and update database information as you work to keep it as accurate as possible.

  • Map target organizations as you work, locating and quantifying available pools of talent with required skill sets. Check for holes in the research to ensure identification of every available candidate.

  • Conduct investigative research focused on the talent ecosystem. Write research reports, summarizing findings, detailing the information sought as well as intelligence gleaned through analysis of that information.

  • Use software tools and research techniques to uncover top candidates others miss.

  • Monitor relevant business news and develop market intelligence to share with our team and, in turn, our client.

  • Track and communicate individual metrics as measured against stated goals. Take ownership of successful outcome.

  • Maintain positive relationship with the Intellerati team.

Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree required with track record of academic achievement.

  • Track record of success in journalism (IRE/NICAR preferred), competitive intelligence, information or library science, business research or related field.

  • Project management experience delivering assignments on time.

  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing in-depth reports.  Strong writing and communication skills.

  • Technically literate. Prefer candidates with a demonstrated interest in computer-assisted research, harnessing the power of the latest tools and techniques. Fluency in Internet research.

If you are accomplished academically and professionally, if you have always been one of the smartest people in the room, if you are ambitious, and if you believe in the power of information to make a real difference in the world as well as in your own life, then let's talk.
