Gas Pump Inspections Make Speedy CAR Story
Davidson describes a quick CAR investigation that any reporter can pursue. He acquired records for gas pump inspections accross the state, and looked for the percentage of pumps with "volume failures."

First Venture:
After four Houston City Council employees were fired for taking improper bonuses, Houston CIty Mayor Bill White said the bonuses were \"highly unusual for city workers.\" Fresh from IRE Bootcamp, reporter Matt Stiles wanted to check that out, resulting in an \"exclusive story showing that one in six city employees got paid extra money--totalling about $4 million.\" He got electronic payroll data for city employees, and joined that with performance and productivity incentives that were on a different database, using Microsoft Access.
