| Summary | "The News & Observer discovered a little known provision in state law requiring the reporting of all cases of misuse of state funds or property to the State Bureau of Investigation. The N&O reviewed those files and found that several million dollars of theft, misspending and damage to state assets occurred over the past five years. The N&O also found that many state agencies weren't reporting this theft, and those that did had been successful in keeping cases out of the public eye." |
