| Summary | According to state law, schools must provide students' parents with an annual "School Accountability Report," intended to paint an appropriate picture of what the school is like. The accountability report is supposed to include information regarding the number of fights/assaults which occurred during the school year. This investigation looks at problems with these reports, including some schools which don't include what the police consider felony assaults. The law, which most critics consider confusing and hard to understand, allows schools to only report incidents which result in severe injuries and disfigurement. |
