Contaminated drywall imported from China has wreaked havoc on thousands of homes across the country. It has been linked to corroded wires and air conditioners, as well as health problems like headaches and nosebleeds. The Herald-Tribune's investigation of the drywall prompted lawsuits and Congressional action.

"Defective Drywall Series: Made in the U.S.A.?"
An investigation into faulty drywall arose after "devastating" structural damage occurred in homes across the U.S. Health concerns were also called into questions as some of the drywall proved to be toxic. At first Chinese produced drywall was blamed, but further in-depth investigation revealed that in was American made drywall that was being produced at a low, almost dangerous quality.

Trouble in the Walls: Contaminated Chinese Drywall
Drywall from China, which has been contaminated, could become one of the” largest consumer disasters in US history”. Gases being released from the drywall are “corroding wires, air conditioners and shorting out electronics, and suspected of causing health problems like severe headaches, respiratory ailments, asthma attacks and nosebleeds”. Many homeowners can’t afford to move and would never be able to sell their homes, so they are trapped with nowhere to turn.
