Out of Control
"Out of Control" documented how numerous drivers of the country's most popular sport utility vehicle have experienced frightening, uncontrollable sudden accelerations leading to serious, sometimes fatal accidents. Starting with a complaint from a single driver in Chicago, WFLD's investigation found that "runaway" Jeep Cherokees have been responsible for deaths, injuries and property damage in accidents all over the country. Chrysler blames the Jeep owners, saying the drivers mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. The report found drivers, and witnesses, who convincingly disputed Chrysler's explanation.
