  • Abuse of Power

This series is an investigation into former CSUPD Chief Dexter Yarbrough. Before the investigation began, he had been placed on paid administrative leave and this raised suspicion from J. David McSwane. After much research and interviewing, David revealed a number of cases of misconduct by Yarbrough. These cases of misconduct included sexual harassment and other illegal behaviors. After everything was revealed, Yarbrough resigned and now hiring of university officials and police personnel is highly assessed.

  • "Sexual Assault on Campus: A Frustrating Search for Justice"

Unfortunately, sexual assault occurs on campuses all over the U.S. For the small number of those who come forward to report the act, institutional policies can often make the process toward accountability difficult, sometimes even causing the victim to drop the claim. The Center for Public Integrity finds that most university policies are lacking in "transparency" and often lead to less the harsh punishment for the accused attackers.

  • Mount Bachelor Academy: Ever unconventional, long controversial

When attending a private school for troubled teens, no one thought they would ever have to do such a thing as performing a lap dance while wearing revealing clothes. This method was "therapy" for victims of sexual abuse. Other types of methods were used, such as "sleep deprivation, extended physical labor, verbal abuse and restricting communication between parents and children." The reason these methods could continue was the school was "catering to the wealthy parents who felt they had nothing to lose and students were afraid to reveal the truth."

  • School Bus Disgrace

This investigation exposed abuse, neglect and corruption in New York City's school bus system. The reporters found cases of students being sexually abused on buses, of buses breaking down, and of special needs children being mistreated. The investigation revealed that the Department of Education had no way to track repeat offenders, and often punished misbehaving drivers with little more than a verbal reprimand.

An analysis that "found that Ohio's system to punish rogue teachers is flawed at all levels." Some of their findings include nearly two-thirds of the 1700 educators charged with misconduct were allowed to keep their jobs; districts failed to report bad behavior to state or other districts despite laws requiring them to do so; nearly a quarter of all teachers who physically, emotionally or sexually abused a child still retained their license.
