The Criminal Records Manual
by Derek Hinton

Criminal Records Book can help journalists gain a better understanding of criminal records. The first section includes a quiz on your "criminal record quotient," provides some basic background on criminal records and discusses the use of criminal records. The second section provides a general discussion on where criminal records are found at the county, state and federal levels. The third section discusses employer and vendor guidelines about public records. The fourth section provides specific contact information for criminal records at the state and federal level. The state profiles include contact information for the state criminal records agency (including a Web site), information about the state sexual offender registry, the state court system and the state correctional agency. The federal court profiles also includes Web sites, phone numbers and counties covered by that court. The final section includes a chart about required data in state criminal records and a chart of prohibited access to records.
