Twice the fun planned for this year's Blues Bash

Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 17. Get set to come to Atlanta. Go to the best Blues Bash ever!

This year, IRE's popular annual social event will boast two venues and three live blues shows — all for the price of a single ticket.

Yes, we have reserved TWO venues this year for our private use. The bands will play for IRE's ears only at Blind Willie's, the top blues club in Atlanta (828 N. Highland Ave. N.E.; phone: 404-873-2583). And for those who prefer a quieter place to converse, we're also taking over Limerick Junction (822 N. Highland Ave.; phone: 404-874-7147), the Irish pub next door to Blind Willie's. These twin hot spots are located in the trendy Virginia Highlands neighborhood, a short cab ride from the conference hotel. One ticket admits you to both.

And yes, we have THREE live shows featuring two blues headliners with national followings. The evening begins with Sandra Hall, a big, soulful songstress backed by The Shadows. The next set will feature the band with blazing blues guitarist Luther "Houserocker" Johnson. The finale will bring Hall, Johnson and The Shadows on stage together for an incendiary climax.

The Blues Bash begins at 8 p.m. with cash bars and complimentary appetizers (while supplies last). The music starts at 9 p.m.

Last year's Blues Bash was an advance sellout with a record attendance of 400. This year, only 300 advance tickets are available — so be sure to get 'em while you can.

If you've already registered and need tickets, please e-mail John Green at jgreen@ire.org.

If still available, tickets can also be purchased on the day of the event at the conference registration site in Atlanta. But you don't really want to take that chance, do you?

IRE thanks Mark Lagerkvist and local coordinators Chris Cantergiani and Sarah Douglas for their hard work in pulling this together.

As always, the proceeds go to support the IRE Resource Center. In its first five years, the Blues Bash has raised $12,500 for IRE.
