The Blues Bash - IRE's premier social event - will ride again Thursday, June 15 in Fort Worth with a party as big as Texas.
Texas blues great W.C. Clark will be this year's headliner. He is best known as the late Stevie Ray Vaughan's mentor and bandmate - and the writer of one of SRV's biggest hits, "Cold Shot." Clark is "one of the greatest modern blues performers in the world - blending rock with R&B, soul and a touch of funk," according to The Austin American-Statesman. "Good rockin', soul-drenched Austin blues. A potent combination of gritty Texas guitar wedded to devastating, gospel-rich Memphis vocals," chimes The Austin Chronicle. "A legend of the blues world," opines New York Post.
That big talent will be showcased in an equally big venue - the historic Rose Marine Theater. Blues Bash patrons will enjoy exclusive use of the renovated theater, an indoor reception area and a private outdoor plaza. The bash will begin at 7:30 p.m., music will start at 8 p.m., on the opening night of the IRE Conference.
The eighth annual Blues Bash will offer another Texas twist. Beer, wine and soft beverages will be included in the price of admission. To do this, there will be a slight increase in ticket prices this year. Discounted tickets will be sold during online pre-registration for a mere $20 - a true bargain.
(Note: This year's beverage deal is a one-time opportunity, a necessary product of a quirk in the theater's alcohol license. Hard liquor will not be served - and no BYO. Sorry. At the 2007 Blues Bash in Phoenix, we will return to our traditional full cash bar.)
All net proceeds are donated to the IRE Resource Center. In its first seven years, this event has raised nearly $20,000. This IRE event is hosted by former IRE board member, Mark Lagerkvist.
