In a five-part series, The Frontier details Oklahoma’s hidden war-within-a-war against rape and sexual assault, as local and state entities vie for the same limited funding and resources, offering only piecemeal protection. From 2011 to 2016, Oklahoma experienced an all-time-high 46 percent increase in reported rapes.

The series highlights the pleas of survivors fighting for justice from the state Capitol all the way to the White House. Veteran award-winning investigative reporter Mary Hargrove spent a year interviewing more than 70 people to put the undeclared rape crisis in perspective.
