Honolulu Civil Beat is looking for an experienced investigative editor who can help take a small staff of smart, passionate reporters to a higher level.
We believe that journalism can and should have an impact. That a vibrant news organization is vital to democracy. That we can make a difference in the lives of people and in public policy through solid, smart journalism.
We are seeking a veteran journalist who is a motivator and mentor as well as a manager, a team leader who can pitch in on projects and help run a daily news operation while juggling enterprise.
Strong watchdog skills are imperative, computer-assisted reporting and data-mining experience a plus. Generally, you need to be a great reporter, excellent writer and sharp editor with at least 10 years’ experience.
Civil Beat pays competitive salaries and has a strong vacation and benefits package, including a 401K employer match. We’re an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and encourages people from underrepresented communities to apply.
If you are someone who can embrace the energy, excitement and demands of a thriving online news outlet in one of the most interesting and beautiful places on the planet, then send a resume and cover letter by Aug. 31 to our editor, Patti Epler, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
