The Cincinnati Enquirer, part of Gannett Inc. and the USA TODAY NETWORK, is a seeking a talented, energetic investigative reporter to join our investigative and enterprise team.

We aim to produce original work that protects the interests of our audience, exposes abuse, holds the powerful to account and compels change. But we also want to tackle topics that are compelling to our audience and not merely concerning to bureaucrats or academics. And we must make our often complex stories relatable on digital, print and social media platforms. Finally, we don’t stop at exposing problems; our stories should interrogate and vet solutions to those problems. In short, we seek investigative reporting that connects with our audience and has an impact for the public good.

The best candidate will:

Have a passion for telling stories about real people.

Demonstrate the ability for reporting deeply and writing with authority. Experience in working with
documents and sources are musts; data skills are strongly preferred.

Clearly be a team player who also is highly organized, self-motivated, capable of juggling daily and
enterprise work and delivering.

Make it a mission to inform and engage readers through a combination of mobile-friendly explainer stories,
video, live chats and other non-traditional story forms. This requires answering from the get-go how a story can deliver benefits to our target audiences.

Act as a public ambassador through community outreach and connects with influencers and engaged readers through
social media.

Possess a fine-tuned sense of right and wrong.

Have at least three years of professional journalism experience.

Perform other duties as necessary.

Have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
