FairWarning (www.fairwarning.org), a nonprofit investigative news organization based in Southern California, is seeking a staff writer to join our dedicated, hard-working team. We’re looking for a person who shares our sense of mission, with strong news judgment, a deft writing touch, and a demonstrated ability to handle detailed investigative and explanatory stories.

FairWarning, which is now in its tenth year, focuses on public health, consumer, workplace and environmental issues, and related topics of government and business accountability. We produce  deeply reported stories that appear on our website and in print, online and broadcast editions of media outlets across the country.

Applicants must have at least 5 years of professional journalism experience, including at least two years in a newsroom. A background in the issues we cover is a big plus. The ability to speak Spanish is also a plus.

Our work is fairly specialized, so please take a look at our website before deciding to apply. Then, if you think you’re the one we’re looking for, send a resume, short cover letter and three strong clips by May 17 to jobs@fairwarning.org.
