Join IRE and NICAR in Jacksonville for our annual conference devoted to data journalism, March 2-5, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. Come and learn about tools you need to dig deeper into stories and give readers, viewers and your online audience the information they’re demanding.

The Computer-Assisted Reporting Conference offers something for everyone, from beginners to those on the cutting edge of digital reporting. We’ll offer everything from the basics on using spreadsheets, databases and online mapping to data visualization and the latest technological advances. You’ll come away with story ideas, plenty of inspiration and tools to help you overcome typical data hurdles. Bypass the budget issues in your newsroom by taking hands-on classes in free software. Get a look at what the biggest names in data-driven reporting are using to make a major impact online. Learn from the best in the business in discussions and during hands-on training sessions.

Tapestry Data Storytelling Conference

The 5th annual Tapestry Data Storytelling Conference will be held at Casa Monica in St. Augustine, Florida on Wednesday March 1, 2017. Tapestry is an event designed to advance interactive online data storytelling, bringing together different viewpoints with the goal of generating a rich conversation about data storytelling.

This one-day, invitation-only conference includes keynotes from speakers like Pro Publica’s Lena Groeger, short stories from authors like Cole Nussbaumer Knafilc, and a demo theater designed to provoke ideas and dialogue across disciplines.

The registration fee is waived for attendees in journalism, and transportation from the conference to Jacksonville will be provided for attendees who also plan to attend NICAR. For more information, and to request your invitation to attend or present, visit the Tapestry Conference website at http://www.tapestryconference.com
