Brownbag: Getting investigative grants
Sarah Cohen is the Knight professor of journalism at the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University. She previous worked as a reporter and editor for The New York Times and The Washington Post. Her awards include the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting, the IRE medal, the RFK award and the Goldsmith award. Cohen is a past Knight Chair at Duke University and a reporter in Florida. She is a past president of IRE.
Hannah Rappleye is a producer with the Investigative Unit at NBC News. Her work focuses on criminal justice, immigration and civil rights and has been supported by several foundations, including The Investigative Fund and the Open Society Foundation. She received her BA from The New School and her MA in Journalism from the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism. @hrappleye.
Lisa Riordan Seville is an independent investigative reporter for news and magazines. Her stories have appeared on NBC News and nbcnews.com, in The Nation magazine, Salon.com and the New York Daily News, among other outlets. Her work has been supported by the Investigative Fund for The Nation Institute, the Open Society Foundations, the California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowships and CUNY's Urban Reporting Program.
