Intro to Python II
Want to upgrade your data skills? Come learn the Python programming language for a three-hour span. Geared toward beginners, this class with go over language basics and introduce you to key concepts. You'll then take your new Python skills and learn how to read, manipulate and analyze data from a spreadsheet.
This session is good for: People who know their way around a computer and are ready to dive into programming. All are welcome, though some familiarity with spreadsheets and the command line will certainly help.
Aaron Kessler specializes in investigative reporting and data analysis at the intersection of business and politics. He's currently on the investigative team at Bloomberg Industry Group, pursuing projects tied to the executive agencies, Congress and the corporate world. He's a Mizzou alum who got his start covering city hall for the Joplin Globe and has worked at CNN, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, and wrote about the auto industry for the NYT. @akesslerdc
Colleen is a news apps developer at The Wall Street Journal specializing in front-end development and data visualization. Prior to the WSJ, she was an intern at The New York Times and a journalism student at UNC Chapel Hill. @colleenmcenaney
Aaron Williams is an investigative data reporter who specializes in data analysis and visualization for The Washington Post. Before joining the investigative team he was a reporter for the Post graphics desk. He previously covered housing, campaign finance, police and local politics for the San Francisco Chronicle and the Center for Investigative Reporting.
