Yet in-depth and investigative coverage of these important issues are scarce. We’ll share our own experiences fighting for data in international courts, turning investigative stories into compelling audio pieces and using data to produce valuable quick-hits to help you better navigate the field of agribusiness and tell deeper and more accurate stories.

Speaker Bios

  • Pam Dempsey is the executive director of the Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting. She is an award-winning journalist who has done investigative reporting and editing on topics including agribusiness, migrant farm workers, health, housing and Native American government. Dempsey, who is an online, print and radio journalist, has developed community engagement programs and investigative reporting workshops. @pamelagdempsey

  • Peggy Lowe is a veteran reporter with KCUR, Harvest Public Media and APM Reports, a public media investigative collaboration. Her work has been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition, All Things Considered and APM’s Marketplace. Her investigative project, “Dangerous Jobs, Cheap Meat,” won top prize from the Public Radio News Directors' in 2017. @peggyllowe

  • Nils Mulvad is partner and CEO at Kaas & Mulvad. He is specialized in getting data by extracting websites, negotiating, using FOI-requests and scraping. He started using scrapers in 2004 and have all the years mainly worked with Kapow, Helium Scrapers, Import.io and python-scrapers. Nils analyzes data - looking for patterns and the most interesting conclusions to be drawn out of data. He has trained journalists and others in data for more than 20 years. @nmulvad
