As more people turn to Facebook, Twitter and even Snapchat for news, journalists are creating and distributing data visualizations that are native to those platforms. In this session, learn about the nuances of short-form, mobile-first storytelling and why "snackable" graphics are essential to engaging younger audiences.

Speaker Bios

  • Yvonne Leow is the senior Snapchat editor at Vox.com. She was previously a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University, a senior associate at North Base Media and the director of video at Project Thunderdome. She's also the national vice president of the Asian American Journalists Association. She lives in San Francisco. @YvonneLeow

  • Aaron Williams is an investigative data reporter who specializes in data analysis and visualization for The Washington Post. Before joining the investigative team he was a reporter for the Post graphics desk. He previously covered housing, campaign finance, police and local politics for the San Francisco Chronicle and the Center for Investigative Reporting.
