Speaker Bios

  • Sarah oversee's data and research for OpenSecrets.org. Previously, she researched lobbying and the revolving door. Prior to joining OpenSecrets, Sarah was a doctoral student at the Ohio State University, where she also taught undergraduate political science courses. She received her Ph.D. from Ohio State in 2014 and her B.A. in political science and biology in 2006. @aksarahb

  • Anne Galloway is the founder and editor of VTDigger in Montpelier, Vermont. In 2017, she was a finalist for the Ancil Payne Award for Ethics, the Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award and the Investigative Reporters and Editors FOIA Award for her investigation into allegations of foreign investor fraud at Jay Peak Resort.

  • Derek Willis is a news applications developer at ProPublica, focusing on politics and elections. He previously worked as a developer and reporter at The New York Times, a database editor at The Washington Post, and at the Center for Public Integrity and Congressional Quarterly. He began his journalism career at The Palm Beach Post. He is a co-founder of OpenElections, a project to collect and publish election results from all 50 states.
