Speaker Bios

  • Joel Campbell is an associate professor in multimedia journalism in Brigham Young University School of Communications since 2002. He teaches media writing, journalism principles and research methods courses. He was a reporter and editor at the (Salt Lake City) Deseret News for 15 years. He has been active for three decades in First Amendment and Freedom of Information advocacy, particularly in Utah.

  • Jeffrey Hunt is a nationally recognized First Amendment and media lawyer, having represented every major news organization in the state of Utah, as well as several national news organizations, including the Associated Press, CNN, Viacom, CBS, and Fox Television Stations, Inc. He regularly represents media companies and individuals in state and federal courts, and counsels clients on defamation, privacy, intellectual property, FOI, and related legal issues.
