Welcome and overview of the workshop
Robert Cribb is an investigative reporter at the Toronto Star. He has received national reporting awards and citations for investigations into offshore tax evasion, child exploitation, human trafficking, dangerous doctors and public-health threats. Cribb is co-author of Digging Deeper: A Canadian Reporter’s Research Guide (Oxford University Press). He teaches investigative reporting at Ryerson University’s School of Journalism and the University of Toronto. @thecribby
Peter is the founder of the Global Reporting Centre, a non-profit organization focused on innovating global journalism. He is former director of the UBC Graduate School of Journalism, where he continues to teach investigative and global reporting, working with students in the field. He was a longtime producer at CBS News 60 Minutes, and is the recipient of numerous journalism honours, including several Emmy, Murrow and Sigma Delta Chi awards. @peterwklein
Denise Malan is IRE's Deputy Executive Director, overseeing all training programs, event logistics and the IRE Resource Center. She was a newspaper journalist for more than a decade, covering government, education, politics, the environment and more. After several years at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times in Texas, she joined IRE in 2013 in a joint position with the Institute for Nonprofit News, helping newsrooms around the country use data in their reporting.
