What is ahead for investigative TV when most news is consumed on mobile devices? This panel will discuss increasing co-productions with print and international partners and growing competition for eyeballs from everything from Netflix to Facebook.

Speaker Bios

  • Peter is the founder of the Global Reporting Centre, a non-profit organization focused on innovating global journalism. He is former director of the UBC Graduate School of Journalism, where he continues to teach investigative and global reporting, working with students in the field. He was a longtime producer at CBS News 60 Minutes, and is the recipient of numerous journalism honours, including several Emmy, Murrow and Sigma Delta Chi awards. @peterwklein

  • Kirk LaPointe is the Vice President of Audience and Business Development at Business in Vancouver Media Group; Weekday Host of the morning talk program at Roundhouse Radio 98.3 FM in Vancouver; Adjunct Professor in Ethics and Leadership at the Graduate School of Journalism at University of British Columbia; and Executive Director of the Organization of News Ombudsmen. 

  • Susanne Reber is an award-winning investigative editor. She leads the podcast team at E.W.Scripps Washington Bureau. She co-founded and led Reveal the Peabody Award-winning investigative radio program and podcast. Prior to Reveal, Susanne created and led NPR's first-ever Investigations Unit as well as CBC's Michener Award-winning Investigative Unit. She is the co-author of Starlight Tour-The last lonely night of Neil Stonechild (Random House), a bestseller in 2019. @s_reber

  • Linda Solomon Wood is founder and CEO of Observer Media Group and Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning National Observer.  Linda recently launched a new nonprofit organization, the Canadian Centre for Investigative Journalism, along with investigative reporters Mike De Souza and Jenny Uechi. Linda received the Vancouver Board of Trade award of entrepreneurial innovation in 2015.
