Join Alberto Cairo, Anthony DeBarros and Hadley Wickham for an informal author meet and greet.
Alberto Cairo is the Knight Chair in Visual Journalism at the University of Miami and the director of the Visualization Program at UM's Center for Computational Science. He's been a graphics director a media publications in Spain and Brazil, and he's currently a consultant for companies like Google. He's also the author of several books about visualization, such as 'How Charts Lie' (2019) and 'The Truthful Art' (2016). @albertocairo
Anthony DeBarros is Data News Editor in the Washington, D.C., bureau of The Wall Street Journal, covering trade, politics, the economy and demographics. Before joining the WSJ, Anthony spent more than 25 years with Gannett, including 15 as a data journalist at USA TODAY. He also led product development for DocumentCloud. Last year, No Starch Press published his first book, “Practical SQL: A Beginner’s Guide to Storytelling with Data.”
Hadley Wickham is Chief Scientist at RStudio, and Adjunct Professor at Stanford University and the University of Auckland. He builds tools (both computational and cognitive) to make data science easier, faster, and more fun. His work includes packages for data science (the tidyverse: including ggplot2, dplyr, tidyr, purrr, and readr) and principled software development (roxygen2, testthat, devtools).
