An introduction to the Python programming language for absolute beginners. This class will cover basic fundamentals and syntax to prepare you for more advanced classes with a focus on data processing and analysis.

This session is good for: People who are comfortable working with data in spreadsheets or database managers and want to make the leap to programming.

Speaker Bios

  • Michelle Minkoff is a Data Journalist at the Associated Press since 2011. Minkoff designs & develops data visualizations and creates, cleans and analyzes data sets, with an interest in environmental reporting, recently completing a project on national dam safety. Previously, she worked at PBS and the LA Times. She taught data journalism at Northwestern's Medill School, of which she is a 2010 graduate. Connect with her @michelleminkoff on Twitter.
