Experienced broadcast investigative reporters share techniques and tips for how they prepare for and conduct accountability interviews. They will cover their approaches to a scheduled interview versus an unscheduled interview, show examples, and discuss lessons learned. Joel Grover is the investigative reporter for NBC4 Los Angeles. He has won nearly every major award for investigative reporting, including the Peabody, the DuPont-Columbia, numerous Emmys, six National Edward R. Murrow Awards, and two IRE Medals. He is nationally known for his undercover investigations, which have resulted in millions of dollars in refunds to consumers, changed laws, and sent people to prison.
Tony is the Chief Investigative Reporter at KMGH-TV in Denver. He also serves as the Corporate Investigative trainer for the Scripps Broadcasting group. His broadcast career includes work at NBC Bay Area, KPRC (Houston), KTVK and KNXV (Phoenix). His work has been honored with a DuPont Columbia Award, a national Emmy, national Murrow and more 30 regional Emmy awards.
Vicky Nguyen is an investigative & consumer correspondent for NBC News. Her award-winning reporting has led to multiple state and federal investigations and to changes in national policies. Vicky's work has been recognized with a National Emmy, the duPont Columbia Award, the Gerald Loeb Award for Business & Financial Journalism, 3 Gracies, & 2 Sigma Delta Chi awards.
