Investigative reporters and researchers will dive into the latest tools and tricks for public records research and advanced search techniques, ride on to online privacy and alerting services and finish the run with personal web caching and archiving.

Speaker Bios

  • Barbara Gray is a research methods professor and oversees Newmark J-School’s Research Center. She is the former director of news research at The New York Times and a recognized expert on investigative research. @BarbGray

  • Gary Price is a librarian, writer, researcher, and consultant. He is also the Founder/Editor of infoDOCKET.com. This site is updated daily with news of new online search tools, data-rich reports, and other online resources. He lives near Washington, DC and grew up in the Chicago suburbs. @infoDOCKET

  • Margot Williams is an investigative researcher at The Intercept. She has pursued jihadists online and detainees who died in U.S. immigration detention, investigated Iraq war contractors and followed the money (and private jets and yachts) of mayors, governors, senators, oligarchs, presidential candidates and ex-presidents at ICIJ, NPR, The New York Times and the Washington Post.
