Work Better Track: The life-changing magic of getting organized
Is your desk so cluttered with papers, notes and files that you can’t see the top? Do you have trouble finding that perfect quote in a document somewhere on your computer? Do you start an investigation with ambitious plans for organization, only to promptly abandon them a few weeks in? This demo is for you! We’ll showcase our favorite old-school and new-school tools for taking notes and staying organized. Come prepared to share your favorite techniques and pick up a few new ones, too.
Taylor Blatchford is a news producer on the Seattle Times' digital team. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in investigative and international journalism. She also writes a newsletter called The Lead for student journalists in college and high school. As a student she worked at IRE, where she contributed to the IRE Journal and IRE Radio podcast, and she’s previously reported for Poynter, POLITICO Europe, the Columbia Missourian and the Charlotte Observer. @blatchfordtr
Sarah Hutchins is a training director for IRE & NICAR. She previously served as the organization’s editorial director, overseeing IRE’s publications and online platforms. Sarah has worked for daily newspapers in several states. Before joining IRE in 2014, she was a reporter at The Virginian-Pilot. Sarah has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Indiana University and a master's degree in data science and analytics from the University of Missouri. @sarhutch
