This panel featuring a journalist and a researcher will cover the most reliable sources of research and data on climate change, some of the most underreported effects that make good story ideas, and ways to make your stories resonate with your audiences.

Speaker Bios

  • Neela Banerjee is a Washington-based reporter for InsideClimate News. She led the investigation into Exxon's early climate research, a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service reporting and recipient of nearly a dozen awards. Before ICN, she was an environmental reporter for the L.A. Times. She covered global energy and the Iraq War at The New York Times and served in Moscow with The Wall Street Journal. She grew up in Louisiana and graduated from Yale.

  • Dr. Rita Teutonico has held positions in academia, government, and private industry. She is Associate Dean of Research at FIU and previously was Director of Research Development at Utah State University and their $20M Utah EPSCoR program. She served at NSF for 10 years as Senior Science Advisor and initiated the $150M Science, Education & Engineering for Sustainability initiative. She also was a researcher and consultant to the biotechnology industry in the SF area.
