Speaker Bios

  • Ryan Kath is a national award-winning investigative journalist with a reputation for uncovering problems, exposing taxpayer waste, protecting consumers, holding public officials accountable and prompting positive changes in communities. Kath’s investigations have earned 16 regional Emmy Awards, five regional RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards, and a prestigious national honor from the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards. 

  • Andrew Ba Tran is an investigative data reporter at The Washington Post. He shared in winning the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting in 2018. Tran previously was a data editor at The Connecticut Mirror's TrendCT.org, Prior to that, he was a data producer at The Boston Globe. He is an adjunct at American University. @abtran

  • Brooke is an investigative reporter and associate professor of the practice of computational journalism at Boston University. Her award-winning data journalism has appeared in The New York Times, the Center for Public Integrity, inewsource, the San Diego Union-Tribune and elsewhere. She currently is working on an investigation that utilizes machine learning for The Intercept. @reporterbrooke
