    2021 IRE Mini-Bootcamp Online Data viz using Tableau

    This bootcamp is for anyone who is familiar with the basics of analyzing structured data and wants to visualize data in easy to understand, interactive dashboards.

    This online mini-bootcamp will teach the fundamentals of using Tableau, a free and powerful tool for building and embedding highly customizable visualizations, with no programming necessary. We’ll cover data visualization concepts, including which type of chart to use and why, and ensuring your visualizations are bulletproof. Hands-on lessons will include building bar charts, line charts and maps, as well as full interactive dashboards that tell a powerful story.

    After registration, attendees will receive instructions on setting up their computers with necessary software, and information on accessing the course materials and live videos. Sessions will be taught through Zoom.

    Attendees will receive:

     *Two days of live instruction from the IRE training team, including video demonstrations, hands-on activities, and small-group workshops

    *Support to set up their home computers for data work

    *Open lab time to work on personal projects with one-on-one guidance from the trainers

    *Ongoing access to all videos recorded during the bootcamp, plus additional training videos and materials

    *An e-book filled with step-by-step instructions on using Tableau

    *Practice datasets to continue learning

    Necessary tools: Tableau Public (free and cross-platform), Zoom, a good internet connection

    Pre-requisites: No previous data visualization experience necessary, though you should have a strong grasp of analyzing structured data in spreadsheets. You must have a Gmail account to access bootcamp materials.

    Tentative schedule: The workshop is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET and end at 6 p.m. ET Feb. 1-2, 2021. An optional open lab will be held each day from 6:15-8:15 p.m. ET. A tentative schedule can be found here.

    Bootcamp registration cost: $300 for professionals/$200 for students (Attendees must be a current IRE member. IRE membership is $70 for professionals and $25 for students. Attendees must meet IRE membership terms

    All cancellations must be sent via email to logistics@ire.org. There is a $75 processing fee for cancellations until the Wednesday prior to the event. Refunds will not be given for cancellations after this day.

    This bootcamp is for anyone who is already familiar with the basics of analyzing structured data and wants to learn how to use Python, a popular and versatile programming language.

    This online mini-bootcamp will teach the fundamentals of Python syntax and introduce attendees to the pandas data analysis library.

    After registration, attendees will receive instructions on setting up their computers with the necessary software and information on accessing the course materials and live videos. Sessions will be taught through Zoom.

    Attendees will receive:

     *Two days of live instruction from the IRE training team, including video demonstrations, hands-on activities, and small-group workshops

    *Support to set up their home computers for data work in Python

    *Open lab time to work on personal projects with one-on-one guidance from the trainers

    *Ongoing access to all videos recorded during the bootcamp, plus additional training videos and materials

    *An e-book filled with step-by-step instructions on using Python

    *Practice datasets to continue learning

    *Follow-up consultation on specific projects

    2021 IRE Mini-Bootcamp Online: R & RStudio

    This bootcamp is for anyone who is familiar with the basics of analyzing structured data and wants to learn a programming language that specializes in visualization and statistical analysis. 

    R is a free, open-source and powerful programming language for cleaning, analyzing and visualizing data, as well as statistical analysis. This bootcamp will cover all those skills, starting with the building blocks of importing and performing basic analysis on data.

    After registration, attendees will receive instructions on setting up their computers with necessary software, and information on accessing the course materials and live videos. Sessions will be taught through Zoom.

    Attendees will receive:

     *Two days of live instruction from the IRE training team, including video demonstrations, hands-on activities, and small-group workshops

    *Support to set up their home computers for data work

    *Open lab time to work on personal projects with one-on-one guidance from the trainers
