    2020 IRE Mini-Bootcamp Online: SQL

    This is the bootcamp for those who have mastered spreadsheets and are ready to work with databases with millions of records and/or multiple tables.

    This online mini-bootcamp will start with the basics of using SQL (Structured Query Language) and its powerful filtering and grouping functions. We’ll also harness the power of SQL by joining multiple tables and manipulating data.

    After registration, attendees will receive instructions on setting up their computers with necessary software, and information on accessing the course materials and live videos. Sessions will be taught through Zoom.

    Attendees will receive:

     *Two days of live instruction from the IRE training team, including video demonstrations, hands-on activities, and small-group workshops

    *Support to set up their home computers for data work

    *Open lab time to work on personal projects with one-on-one guidance from the trainers

    *Ongoing access to all videos recorded during the bootcamp, plus additional training videos and materials

    *An e-book filled with step-by-step instructions on using SQL

    *Practice datasets to continue learning

    Necessary tools: DB Browser for SQLite (a free, cross-platform SQL interface), Zoom, a good internet connection

    Pre-requisites: No previous SQL experience necessary, though you should have a strong grasp of analyzing structured data in spreadsheets. You must have a Gmail account to access bootcamp materials.

    Tentative schedule: The workshop is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET and end at 6 p.m. ET Dec. 7-8. An optional open lab will be held each day from 6:15-8:15 p.m. ET. A tentative schedule can be found here

    Bootcamp registration cost: $300 for professionals/$200 for students (Attendees must be a current IRE member. IRE membership is $70 for professionals and $25 for students. Attendees must meet IRE membership terms)

    All cancellations must be sent via email to logistics@ire.org. There is a $75 processing fee for cancellations until the Wednesday prior to the event. Refunds will not be given for cancellations after this day.
