The Dallas Morning News has an exciting opportunity for a researcher to support research and reporting for local journalism. We’re seeking someone who is curious and skilled at digging deep to track and uncover hard-to-find sources and information. You’ll be charged with using open intelligence tools and public records to support in-depth reporting and information analysis. We are looking for someone who is flexible and a fast learner who is organized and can work independently to help create stories, employ new intelligence tools and acquire information.
This is a position where you can define and direct your own role. The possibilities are endless to partner with investigative and breaking news teams.
Job requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. Coursework in journalism, research and reporting is helpful. Coursework or master’s degree in information sciences a plus.
1 to 3 years experience in journalism and either research, writing, data science, analytics, tech tools and newsrooms preferred.
Open source intelligence tools, digital forensics, public records, scraping tools, Python, SQL, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript experience is a plus.
