According to the report, Mezzatesta simultaneoulsy took two salaries, paid for by taxpayers. He also diverted school funds to fire-departments and covered up his misdeeds by creating bogus documents. The investigation lead to Mezzatesta's criminal conviction and removal from office. His wife was fined and sentenced for the same offense.
