Description

"A young, Mabel, Minnesota man -- Steve Fossum -- had been convicted of two rapes in Houston, Texas. He was sent to prison for 12 years." WCCO-TV (Minneapolis) "investigated the possibility that he was innocent of both rapes. The station found: that much of the testimony of one victim was false; that authorities had conducted practically no investigation in either case; that the prosecutor had ignored the obvious exculpatory evidence; that Fossum's attorney had neglected to interview key witnesses or to obtain readily available evidence; that Fossum's home town was virtually unanimous in its belief in his innocence; that at least one juror who believe Fossum was innocent had made a deal with the others and voted guilty; that evidence existed which proved Fossum innocent of the rape for which he was in jail."
