Readme.txt School Test Scores provided by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution 2003-2011 From the "Cheating Our Children" series website: "The Atlanta Journal-Constitution examined test results for 69,000 schools in 49 states and found high concentrations of suspect scores in about 200 school districts. The findings represent an unprecedented look at the integrity of school testing, which has seized center stage in national education policy." The AJC has made the test score data available for you to investigate suspect scores in your own community. Please read all the documentation before you use the data. IMPORTANT: If you decide to use any of the test score data in your story, you must cite the source of the data as “Data collected from state education departments by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.” They have also made available four analysis fields used to flag suspect scores. Those analysis fields -- "predicated", "residuals", "resid_t" and "flagged_t95" are not included in this download, but are available upon request -- please contact the Database Library. You cannot publish or cite information from these four fields. The following files are included in this download: test_score_data.csv (1,665,168 records): the main data table is in CSV (comma-separated values) format; the row count exceeds Excel's limit, so the file will not open fully in Excel. AJC_data_use_agreement.doc: this is the data use agreement provided by the AJC; it outlines how you may use the data, describes the fields included in the data, and mentions some caveats. ** the four fields mentioned in the dua are not included in this download: predicted, residuals, resid_t and flagged_t95.They are available upon request -- please contact the Database Library. Legal.txt -- Legal information regarding data. -------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like the Database Library to create a state slice or provide the data in a different format for a small fee, please contact us.
