Registration continues for "The Art of the Investigative Interview," the new module for the IRE-approved Investigative Journalism Editing Program at Arizona State's Howard Center for Investigative Journalism.
This is a two-week, self-paced online course. Registration ends Wednesday, Aug. 27. Participants who complete the course will receive a badge to add to resumes, LinkedIn profiles, etc. Cost is $300. Instructors are IRE veterans and ASU faculty members Maud Beelman and Mark Greenblatt.
This course will teach structuring and conducting tough interviews, including potential confrontations; doing mock interviews to prepare for the real thing and more.

Applications are currently open for two major IRE fellowships.
The Chauncey Bailey Journalist of Color Investigative Reporting Fellowship: This yearlong program provides IRE training, mentorship, data services and support — with the goal of helping the fellow produce an investigative reporting project. Deadline: Sept. 1.
Freelance Fellowship: This fellowship supports independent journalists pursuing investigative projects with breadth, significance and impact. Proposals for all types of media, including long-form projects like books and documentaries, are eligible. Deadline: Sept. 29.
The Investigative Reporters and Editors Board of Directors will meet Sunday, Sept. 7, at 8:30 a.m. Central at the offices of KXAN, 908 W. MLK Blvd. Jr., in Austin, Texas.
It will be the first meeting of the 2025-26 board. President Josh Hinkle, Director of Investigations and Innovation at KXAN, who was elected at IRE25 in New Orleans, will preside.
The agenda will include a review of the budget and committee reports, among other items. A link to the full agenda will be posted here before the meeting. The meeting is open to members in good standing via Zoom. Registration is required to attend the meeting.
