Leave a Legacy at IRE
This is one of the most personal gifts you can make, and you do us an honor by considering it. By designating a portion of your estate to IRE in your will, trust, life insurance, retirement plans, donor-advised fund, foundation or other estate plans, you automatically become a member of the IRE Legacy Society where you receive public recognition and community with other legacy donors.
IRE can facilitate and engage with most standard planned giving methods, including:
Bequests: You can provide a portion of your estate to IRE by including our organization in your legal will. You can allocate this portion in three ways. First, as a specific cash amount; second, as a percentage of your estate; and finally, you can designate the remaining value after all other bequests have been paid to go to IRE.
Retirement and insurance beneficiary gifts: You can name IRE as a beneficiary of the unused funds in your retirement account or as a beneficiary (or partial beneficiary) of your life insurance policy.
*Charitable gift annuities: You can give an irrevocable gift of cash or securities to IRE and receive a fixed income payment for a set term or for life. For this option, you can also take an immediate tax deduction and IRE will invest and grow the funds.
*Charitable remainder annuity trusts: You can contribute cash or appreciated securities to IRE, then receive a fixed income based on a percentage of the initial assets used to fund the trust. IRE can invest the funds, and you can avoid capital gains or estate taxes.
*Charitable remainder unitrusts: This option is a bit more flexible than an annuity trust. You can receive a fixed percentage of the fair market value of the trust’s assets which is revalued annually. This means that if the value of the assets increases, the payments increase.
Please reach out to development director, Lynnie McIlvain, at lynnie@ire.org, to discuss which option fits you best, and if and when you do decide to include IRE in your planning, alert us with this easy form.
