Following the untimely death of IRE Executive Director Diana Fuentes, the Board and staff will hold a special office hours meeting to hear from members with questions on Wednesday, March 25, at 12:00 p.m. ET.
All members are welcome but must register.

IRE's Board of Directors voted Sunday, March 22, 2026, to nominate the organization’s late Executive Director, Diana R. Fuentes, for induction into its Ring of Honor.

It is with the heaviest hearts that the IRE Board and staff share the news that our executive director, Diana R. Fuentes, died unexpectedly today in Washington, D.C. As we process this loss, we invite you to join us in reflecting on the incredible impact she had on all of us, and on IRE.

Investigative Reporters and Editors Inc. is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of investigative reporting. IRE was formed to create a forum in which journalists throughout the world could help each other by sharing story ideas, newsgathering techniques and news sources.

IRE provides members access to thousands of reporting tipsheets and other materials through its Resource Center and hosts conferences and specialized training across the country. Programs of IRE include the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting (NICAR), a collaboration between IRE and the Missouri School of Journalism.
