Welcome to IRE!
Investigative Reporters and Editors Inc. is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of investigative reporting. IRE was formed to create a forum in which journalists throughout the world could help each other by sharing story ideas, newsgathering techniques and news sources.
IRE provides members access to thousands of reporting tipsheets and other materials through its Resource Center and hosts conferences and specialized training across the country. Programs of IRE include the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting (NICAR), a collaboration between IRE and the Missouri School of Journalism.

The 13-member Board of Directors for Investigative Reporters and Editors elected new officers for 2023-24 on June 30, 2023.
Investigative Reporters and Editors is proud to announce it is naming its Journalist of Color Investigative Reporting Fellowship in honor of Chauncey Bailey, a respected journalist who was covering his community of Oakland, California, when he was murdered in August 2007.
Four incumbents — Vice President Cindy Galli, Treasurer Brian M. Rosenthal, Secretary Josh Hinkle and At-Large Executive Committee Member Jodie Fleischer — along with two newcomers, Ana Ley and Hyuntaek Lee, were elected to two-year terms.
