Description

The fellowship is intended to benefit journalists covering immigration and the border who are interested in growing their investigative skills by attending IRE’s annual conference. Susan, a proud Cuban American who was fluent in Spanish, was an investigative reporter and editor who long covered border and immigration issues. This fellowship is a fitting tribute to her legacy.

Who is eligible?

U.S.-based journalists and independent journalists covering immigration and the border. Students are not eligible.

What does the fellowship provide?

For attending the conference in-person, the fellowship includes:

  • One-year IRE membership/renewal (up to $75 value)
  • Complimentary conference registration included
  • Four hotel nights ($932 - $956 value)
  • Travel stipend ($500)
