IRE 2013 Conference information and updates

The 2013 IRE Conference begins in just a few days.  Below are a few bits of information to help you prepare for this great conference!

Hotel Information
The conference is taking place at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, 101 Bowie Street, San Antonio, TX, 78205.

Registration
Conference registration opens Wednesday at 3 p.m. and will re-open Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. Registration remains open Friday and Saturday on the 3rd floor of the hotel. 

Weather
San Antonio weather will be in the 90s this week.  See San Antonio’s full weather report  thanks to weatherchannel.com.  

Complimentary wireless Internet during the conference
Complimentary wireless Internet will be offered in the meeting space for attendees during the IRE conference. Signs will be posted near the registration desk with the wireless access code. In addition, attendees staying at the Marriott Rivercenter receive a discounted rate on Internet in their guest rooms

IRE Board Meeting
2 p.m., Thursday, June 20 in CR7 (please note the time change)

This meeting is open to all IRE members.

Welcome reception (Sponsored by Esri)
6 p.m., Thursday, June 20 in Salon E

Meet up with friends you have not seen since last year and welcome new attendees. Enjoy the music of the Texas State University Mariachis.  Each attendee will receive one drink ticket for beer, wine, soda or bottled water. 

Media lawyers brown bag
12 p.m., Friday, June 21 in CR12

Does your investigation contain complex legal questions? Unsure of how to proceed? Bring your lunch and your questions for a discussion with some prominent media law experts who will be presenting throughout the 2013 IRE Conference. Drinks and dessert will be provided.

Closing Reception
7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 22 in Salon I

Enjoy one last evening of catching up with friends, speakers, and colleagues while enjoying music by the WhoDo Band.

IRE Conference App
We are excited to announce the addition of a conference app this year.  Have the latest schedule at your fingertips throughout the conference, check speaker bios, plan your own schedule and keep up-to-date with any panel changes that happen. 

Internet is not required for the app to work once it’s downloaded, however, it is necessary to get any updates.  Complimentary Internet will be available in the meeting space throughout the conference. The app is compatible with iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches and Android devices. Windows Phone 7, Blackberry and computer users can access the same information via our mobile site at m.guidebook.com.  Download today

Conference Addendums
Be sure to check the conference app (daily updates icon) or your email each day, where you will receive the conference addendum with any last minute changes.  Paper copies will also be available at the registration desk each morning.

Conference Evaluations
Conference evaluations will be sent out via email each day to gather your feedback on the sessions you attended that day.  Please take a moment to complete these evaluations, as they are important as we plan next year’s conference.  We will also send a full evaluation after the conference.  Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the evaluation.

Don’t forget to sign-up at the conference
You can sign up onsite to pitch your book or movie idea to an agent or show your work in the broadcast Show & Tell room. All sign-up sheets will be located near the registration desk on the 3rd Floor.

Twitter/Student blog
