Motorcyclists want training but PennDOT not on board. as more riders die on the roads, advocates want expanded safety classes. State isn't sure they help.
In exploring the rising motorcycle accident rate, The Morning Call revealed that a user-supported motorcycle safety training program overseen by the state Department of Transportation was so underfunded that many motorcyclists give up trying to get into the program. PennDOT officials were reluctant to expand the program apparently for political reasons, despite the rise in motorcycle deaths.
