Description

The Chicago Sun-Times discovered that two state officials violated ethics laws when they solicited campaign contributions from companies they regulated. Sam Panayotovich, the executive director of the Illinois Liquor Control Commission helped a political fund raise money from bars and liquor companies he regulates. Bolingbrook (an Illinois Village) Mayor Roger Claar, a member of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, solicited tollway vendors for contributions to his mayoral fund. Both Panayotovich and Claar resigned from their boards after the Chicago Sun-Times inquiries.
